James J. Hustace

James J. Hustace has been an art collector since 1970 and a respected art resource since 1975. He was asked to fulfill a vital role for the appraisal of fine Hawaiian artwork for insurance, donations, estate planning, purchases, and corporate & private collections. For many years (1973-2008) he was a nationally certified real property appraiser and assistant to Edward C. Hustace, MAI and CPM with major assignments of Hawaii’s airports; harbors, industrial, agricultural and ranch lands, commercial, and residential properties; highways; and condemnations.

 

He is Hawaii’s senior certified and registered fine art appraiser and a Certified Appraiser of International Fine Art Appraisers. IFAA is the most respected fine art appraisal organization. Since there was a major need for appraisal of international art, he has taken on numerous assignments beyond the art of Hawaiʻi. He has been educated in many appraisal categories such as: Cost Approach to Value, Market Approach to Value, Income Approach to Value, Capitalization Theory, Appraisal Report Writing, and several USPAP (ethics) courses. He is compliant with the National Code of Ethics. Members of the International Fine Art Appraisers are expected to establish and maintain the highest level of ethical conduct, professional standards, and methodological uses of appraisal valuation estimates based upon their knowledge and extensive "hands on" experience.

James Edward Hustace is also a Certified Appraiser of International Fine Art Appraisers. He has been involved with art collections and appraisal since 2003. His experience with European and American collections has made him vital to the appraisal needs in Hawaiʻi. He is the web designer for Kapalaea Fine Art and has created the largest transactional database of Hawaiian art and artifacts.
